Senior Pastor Job Description
I. Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide quality and biblical preaching on a regular basis.
- Staff Management
- Involvement with the leadership
- Participation in worship service
- General Pastoral Ministries
- Teaching Opportunities
- Visitation and Outreach
- Other duties as necessary
II. The senior pastor shall be accountable to the Elder board and to the congregation. He shall undergo an annual evaluation with the Elder Board to evaluate all aspects of his ministry, spiritual health and financial package.
III. As a pastor of Christian Family Fellowship, he is:
- An “Overseer”: A leader in the church whose office carries a weight of authority in leadership. He ought, therefore, to possess those qualities and characteristics described in I Timothy 3:1-7.
- An “Elder”: A man whose spiritual life is to demonstrate maturity and who, as an elder, provides wise counsel and leadership. He ought, therefore, to possess those qualities and characteristics described for “elders” in Titus 1:6 and indicated in I Timothy 5:17-18.
- A “Deacon”: A man is called to be a servant of the church and who, therefore, demonstrates the qualities of a “deacon” as defined in I Timothy 3:8-13.
- A “Pastor-Teacher”: A man called to the care and nurture of the flock as described in Ephesians 4:11-16. “He Is a trainer and a trainer of trainers.” He may be called upon to preach and to teach as needed.
- A “Counselor”: A man with the gifts and maturity to provide wise spiritual counsel.
As the senior pastor, he will seek to fulfill the objectives and goals of the church. He is to be committed to the building up of the family unit and will seek to strengthen it by means of preaching, teaching, counseling, and /or by any other means that seeks to satisfy God’s design of the family.
- The senior pastor will, in addition to his responsibilities, have the opportunity to accept no more than two invitations and assignments per year beyond the local church.
- The senior Pastor will be able to attend one professional seminar per year along with regional and denominational conferences.
- Approval for the above will be granted by the Elder board.
V. Working Relationships
- He will have secretarial assistance.
- He will attend and report to the elder board.
- He shall be expected to attend all regularly scheduled services and church activities unless other assignments prevent his attendance.

What We Believe
Our constitution lays out eight (8) Doctrinal Statements:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, and authoritative, Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the Deity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that salvation is possible only by the grace of God made effective through faith in Christ, and that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. It is only by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe the ordinances of the church are two in number: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philosophy of Ministry Statements
- The Bible is the basis and final authority for our practices and ministries. (II Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12)
- The purpose of every activity or program in the church must seek to fulfill our vision statement. All ministries of the church, therefore, will be evaluated by their effectiveness in accomplishing our vision. Each ministry must have a purpose statement consistent with the CFF vision statement. (Proverbs 29:18)
- We will at all times have an intentional strategy to accomplish each aspect of our vision.
- We are committed to the belief that our structure must enable and facilitate ministry, not hinder it. We must be free therefore to modify our programming according to our current needs and leading of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 16:6-10)
- We believe that godliness should be the chief characteristic of all Christians and that consistent personal prayer and Bible study must be demonstrated in a visible way. We are committed, therefore, to disciplining our members when there is an obvious public discrepancy between their personal testimony and their personal confession of faith in Christ. (Proverbs 27:5; Matthew 18:15-20; Galatians 6:1-4; Ephesians 5:25-30; Revelation 2:20-25; I Timothy 6:20, I Peter 1:15-16)
- We are committed to the godliness of our leadership. We believe that those who aspire to leadership positions in the church are held to a higher standard and must not only characterize the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5) but must also bear fruit of ministry (John 15).We further believe that leadership in the church was designed and ordained by God and that church leaders have the responsibility to manage the affairs of the church while being held accountable for their actions by each other and the congregation as a whole. The congregation is responsible to pray for, encourage and support the leadership that God has chosen to lead His Church. (Hebrews 13:7; I Timothy 5:17 and Acts 14:23)
- We believe that true Christian fellowship (koinonia) must incorporate the person of Christ into every activity referred to as “fellowship.” Sharing discussions, feelings and thoughts about a person’s relationship with God distinguishes Biblical koinonia from secular social gatherings. (Hebrews 10:24-25; I Thessalonians 5:11; Acts 2:42)
- We recognize the crucial importance of the family unit and will design ministries that will seek to strengthen and encourage strong and healthy families. (Ephesians 5:21-6:4)
- Evangelistic efforts will primarily take place in the community at large through both corporate and individual means. We will gather for worship and equipping ministries and scatter for outreach. Sunday worship services, therefore, will primarily be designed for the body of Christ, but will be sensitive to seekers. (Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 3:16-17; Hebrews 10:25)
- We believe every true Christian is a minister and we will seek the development and deployment of each person’s spiritual gifts to be used in a way that is consistent with their strengths, temperaments and passions. New ministries, therefore, will be initiated as the Lord provides members with the vision and willingness to carry them out. (I Corinthians 12:4-31; I Peter 2:5)
- We believe that as followers of Christ, we have been called to be the salt and light of the world. This is not only true in an evangelistic sense but also in the social context as we seek to stand for Christ in all facets of society. (Matthew 5:13-16; Colossians 4:5-6; Titus 2:7)
