Job Description

Job Title: Outreach Ministry Director & Christian Counselor

This position is a joint effort between Calvary Bible Church (CBC) of Ellerslie, Maryland and Foundations Christian Counseling Services (FCCS) of Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania. The candidate will report directly to the Lead Pastor at CBC and Director of New Initiatives at FCCS. The responsibilities below provide a general overview of ministry service opportunities. Weekly time commitment could range from 40-50 hours. Each position is flexible and open to suggestions based upon the candidate’s personality, skills, interest, and experience. The position has a salaried component as well as an hourly wage for counseling sessions.

Outreach Ministry Director Responsibilities (20-25 hours/week):
 Collaborate with CBC leadership on planning and organizing counseling related outreach resources, services, and events for the community and church

 Prepare and present biblical counseling related resources and seminar materials

 Survey community needs and opportunities for sharing the gospel or demonstrating the love of Christ

 Network with local county and community leaders, resources, and organizations

 Create new outreach events and ongoing ministries that utilize spiritual gifts and skills found in CBC body

 Promote and advertise ministries and resources to the community

 Organize and train individuals to serve in various outreach ministries

 Develop a culture within the church for welcoming new visitors and converts from outreach ministries

 Oversee and teach young adults, recently married couples, and family ministries

 Participate in leadership meetings and vision development

 Assist with preaching and other discipleship efforts as needed or directed

Foundations Christian Counseling Responsibilities (20-25 hours/week):

 Build and cultivate church and community partnerships in the surrounding Cumberland area

 Strategies and oversee operational growth for counseling services to local communities and churches

 Promote FCCS in the local community and to the surrounding churches

 Organize and provide biblical counseling seminars for the community and area churches

 Provide hourly counseling services for local churches and the community

 Offer pastoral counseling consultations for partnering churches

 Interview, train, and supervise new staff hirers as counseling demands increase

 Participate in supervision and staff meetings remotely

Character and Professional Qualifications:

 Graduate degree in Counseling (prefer 48-60 credit program & professionally licensed/certified)

 Prefer three or more years of post-graduate experience counseling

 Willingness to be licensed or ordained for ministry by the church

 Demonstrate qualities of an elder as outlined in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1

 Displays the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5) in personal and professional settings

 Able to collaborate with others in ministry and work responsibilities

 Skilled communicator and peacemaker

 Highly values the word of God and has a teachable attitude

 Knowledge of and personal agreement with FCCS and CBC statement of faith, values, and constitution

 Committed to the great commission and institutional missions of CBC and FCCS

 Possesses a servant’s, shepherds’, and steward’s heart in leadership
