Serve as the spiritual leader of the church.
Responsible for the worship services of the church and work with the worship Leader in the planning of the worship services.
Provide overall vision for the direction of the ministry.
Operate as the church’s primary Bible teacher and preacher, responsible for the regular Bible teaching ministry of the church.
Serve as the overseer for the church staff.
Conduct weddings, funerals, and baptisms according to the doctrinal commitments of our church.
Spend an appropriate amount of time in study and prayer in preparation for teaching opportunities.
Serve as a leader by example in personal discipleship, stewardship, and evangelism.
Meet with the elders on a regular basis to discuss the spiritual and organizational health of the congregation.
Develop relationships with other evangelical churches and organizations in our community consistent with our church’s mission and values.
When needed, counsel members and families on how to live biblically faithful lives.
Meet regularly with staff and other church leaders to disciple and train them in ministry.
Officiate the Lord’s Supper/Communion on a regular basis.
Serve as an ex-officio member of church committees and teams.
Ensure ongoing ministry to home-bound and nursing home church members.
Must meet the Biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7-9.
Must have a heart to see people impacted by the gospel of Jesus Christ in every aspect of their life and to lead them and their families to see and know our great sovereign God.
Must be willing to further his personal development through all avenues available such as
conferences and/or schooling. Must desire to be a “life-long learner” always wanting to challenge and deepen his own knowledge so as to have an ever growing impact on the people God places in our ministry. Must be a self-starter and motivated with the gift of leadership and administrative skills necessary to plan, schedule, organize and lead volunteers to implement the ministry of DBC.
Domain of work
Pastoral Duties: Preach on a consistent schedule. Attend staff meetings, elder meetings, and other essential church meetings related to his ministry. Be actively involved in church functions. Shepherding, teaching and nurturing all those under his pastoral care.
Team Development: Enlist, train, direct, mentor and coordinate a qualified volunteer leadership team to assist in nurturing and discipling effectively.
Student & Family Ministry: Oversee a complete and comprehensive ministry that implements the mission of DBC while building relationships, nurturing, equipping and training young people in their faith. A solid ministry will consist of intentional interaction with families. Partnering with them, providing resources, communicating effectively, and involving them in planning and events.
Small Group Ministries: Oversee and maintain a vibrant small group ministry that promote connection, spiritual growth and participation for all at DBC. Train, equip and value new leaders in small group ministry.
Adult Ministries: Oversee the adult ministries of DBC assisting them to uphold the mission specifically in the areas of men’s & women’s ministries.
Must confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and have a growing relationship with God that reflects a humble spirit and ability to lead people into the presence of God.
Must agree to and uphold the affirmation of faith as written in the DBC Constitution & By-Laws. This belief should be evident in how he conducts his personal life, family life and ministry life.
Must agree to and uphold the mission, vision and core values of DBC.
The Pastor will be an elder of DBC.
The Elders oversee the spiritual direction of DBC and function as the guardians of the flock. The Lead Pastor serves as an equal on the elder board.
He will be affirmed by the congregation according to the Constitution & By-Laws. If not already ordained, ordination will be a short term goal and determined by the elders.
Open to participating in Conservative Baptist Association (CBA) activities.
