Family Ministries Director

Job Description

This position is part-time with a recommended 18-24 hours each week.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Support, strengthen, encourage, and equip all family ministry teams including: infant, toddler, preschool, RCC Kids, Discover Group (middle school), and Reborn Students (junior/senior high school) teams
  • Develop vision for the above ministries based on what Jesus is already doing in the given ministries and what He desires to do in order to grow them spiritually and numerically
  • Communicate the vision with passion and clarity for all various teams
  • Lead all teams into a concrete plan to disciple RCC children and students
  • Research, choose, discuss, and distribute curriculum for various teams as needed
  • Cultivate clear and consistent communication between each family ministry and parents — including all changes, developments, and events
  • Connect family ministries with support as needed (i.e. prayer, building needs, announcements, finances, etc.)
  • Encourage communication between teams
  • Recruit, train, and sustain teams of volunteers
  • Oversee Sunday morning check-in system
  • Ensure background checks are up to date for all volunteers, as dictated by state law
  • Maintain all administrative tasks related to children and youth ministries — including creating or updating policies, procedures, systems, budgets, supplies, and space needs

Other Responsibilities

  • Pray at least one hour a week for Reading City Church specifically
  • Devote 5 days a week to Bible study or other devotions
  • Financially support RCC through regular tithes and offerings
  • Embrace collaborating with RCC staff and filling in gaps as needed beyond the job description
  • (Preferred) Willingness to occasionally preach/teach on a Sunday morning

Needed Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in a children/youth ministry role as a volunteer or paid staff
  • Enjoys developing teams and relationships
  • Able to lead, equip, and empower leaders
  • Feels called to serve and disciple children and teens
  • Some experience or comfort with speaking to a variety of audiences
