Job Description

Overview of the Church:

  • Calvary Bible Fellowship Church is part of the Bible Fellowship Church denomination. We average 350 people on Sunday morning, split between two services.  We have a 150 year history of ministry.  We are moving forward with building addition and renovation plans.  We are in the first year of a five-year vision.  Our ministry staff currently consists of three full time pastors, a part-time pastor, and a part-time worship leader.  We have two long-term pastoral staff members who are retiring at the end of 2019.  In addition to hiring an Associate Pastor, we intend to hire for two other positions as well.  We are located in the Lehigh Valley, near Allentown.  We are in an excellent school district.  A high percentage of our community has children under the age of 18 living in their homes.  We have strong ministries to children and teens.  We also have a strong small-group ministry.  While we have had historic success with a “come and see” method of outreach, we would like to grow in our ability to “go and tell” our community about Jesus.  We continue to have strong participation in short-term missions trips, and we support numerous long-term missionaries and church planters with a significant portion of our annual budget.

Overview of the Position:

  • This full-time Associate Pastor position at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church is a broad pastoral position with a wide range of responsibilities. The Associate Pastor is expected to handle a changing role over time.  Initially, this position will be tasked with jump-starting our communications and outreach ministries.  The Associate Pastor will not accomplish these tasks alone, but will recruit, train, and lead teams that will perform these activities.  In addition, we expect some teaching and preaching to be done by the Associate Pastor, as well as some pastoral care and some leadership development.  We expect the Associate Pastor to continue to grow in ministry effectiveness.  The Associate Pastor should expect his roles and responsibilities to evolve over time in order to best meet the needs of the congregation and the gifting and abilities of staff and volunteers.

Desired Skill-set:

  • Ability to develop and implement a plan that will coordinate all church communications, both internal and external. The ideal candidate will both be able to accomplish the work of communication and also train and release others to continue accomplishing the plan.
  • Ability to work with volunteers in order to design graphics for communications
  • Ability to create an on-line church-experience which will act as a “front door” for the church. While this includes video of the service, it must also include direct connection with people and creation of an on-line community.
